Tristan gives Isabel "the talk"
So, we’re having dinner and Isabel out of the blue asks,
“Are you having anymore babies?”
I said, “HELL NO!! Um, no, baby. Why?”
“Just wondering. How do you have a baby??”
“What do you mean?”
“How do you know it’s time for you to have the baby?”
“Oh, um…” (I start trying to explain what a contraction is and Tristan breaks in because he is so knowledgable in this department… He actually does know how it all “works” but I think he was trying to make it to what he thought was “age appropriate” for Isabel… I hope.)
“See Isabel, a pelican flies over your house and drops the baby off…”
A pelican. See, all this time I thought it was a stork. Good thing I have my 12 yr old here to enlighten me.

So, are we sure it isn’t really seagulls and that is why they are the UT state bird?
wow i always thought it was the stork too…maybe i need to ask my 12 yr old daughter for the birds and bees talk…THIS could be the reason i have no biological children…hrmph!
That was so funny!
Okay, this ole Grandmother is nosy?
The children are, some his, some hers and some theirs.
How many are his, your, theirs?
I’m about that way with Grandchildren. lol
An Alabama Grandmother
Alabama Grandmother- I had 3 that were 6,4 & 2 when we got married. My husband has twin daughters the same age as my daughter and we have 2 together. 5 live with us all the time with the twins visiting often. So therea re 7 under the age of 13. We married 6.5yrs ago so my husband is “Dad” to everyone.
I think the pelican should bring the babies, makes more sense if you think about it
LOL!
That’s too funny–I bet you were glad Tristan was there to help. I think NCS is right–pelicans do make a lot more sense.
Way to go Tristan! As long as the Pelican doesn’t swallow it would be a great option.
What?? no way. My mama told me she found me under a head of cabbage.
It was a bird?? Oh the outrage!
I bet the baby’s feet wouldn’t get cold in a pelican’s pouch like they do in a sack that the stork brings.
Thanks Tori for answering my nosy question. lol
I really enjoy reading your blog.
An Alabama Grandmother
Ha! It would be really cute if the pelican delivered the baby. And all the seagulls could trail him just like in “Finding Nemo” and bring useful stuff like blankets and diapers. Anything to save a trip to WalMart!
I was just at Elastics blog reading about pelicans.
Does he store the baby in his briefs?
I always tell my kids they were hatched on a rock in Arizona but I think I like Tristans explanation better!
Alabama Grandma is obviously a rookie. All she had to do was read the IF you’re new here!!
LOL,
just thought I would put in my two cents….
So Now I’m confused, is a Pelican or stork…..hmmmmmmm.
lol
Good thing you had Tristan there to help out!
That’s Hilarious! I wish it were a pelican…
HAHAHAHAHAHAH! I swear, pelicans are taking over the blogs. I was just over at Elastic’s and she had a pelican there. Weird.
hahaha…I wish that was how babies came.
LOL. So… Pelican, Stork, or Seagull- how will I know when to expect the delivery? I would hate for the little one to get dropped on his head:)
ya. that is one conversation that has been glossed over a couple times with ava.
HA! I loved that:D
Hey what do you think of the Mavricks? ;D
duh. I should have known. What a sweetie.
What do you mean, “Go Mavs?” You mean– You’re going down Mavs.
Although I’m not thrilled about the whole Shaq thing and saying goodbye to Marion. Crazy. I’ve NEVER been a Shaq fan, but not necessarily a hater either.. so we’ll see. We’ve still got my boyfriends Nash and Hill
Pelicans are destined to be the new celebrity pet of choice. I’m going to start sewing adorable little over-the-shoulder pelican carriers right now to cash in.
Chel- I do wish MY boyfriend Nash would come back home and play with my boyfriend Dirk. ;(
Hahaha, that’s great!
[...] But since I don’t have anything amusing to write about today I want y’all to go check out this post: http://swampbrat.net/2008/02/07/tristan-gives-isabel-the-talk/ [...]
