Ionic Hair Dryers

Are Ionic Hair Dryers Full of Hot Air?

There are several companies out there that use ionic hair dryer technology to purportedly dry your hair faster while keeping it healthier. The question is, do they really work?

The way that ionic dryers (like, BaByliss or CHI hair dryers) claim to work is by using ionic technology to produce tons of negative ions, literally bathing your hair in them. When these negative ions react with the water molecules in your hair, they alter the molecules’ structure causing it to be absorbed into your hair, locking moisture into your hair shaft and… Voila! Dry hair that is soft, shiny and supple in about half the time of your conventional hair dryer. So is it worth it to dish out the dough for this cookie?

CHI Hair Dryer

You Can Get Dry Hair Fast Without Ions.

Whether or not a CHI hair dryer actually conditions your hair or dries it any faster with negative ions, they are still excellent quality hair dryers. But, they cost a pretty penny, starting at around $120 and going up to well over $200. For you moneysaving women who want a good dryer and are worried you would be simply paying for hype with a CHI hair dryer, consider Elchim hair dryers and Solano hair dryers, which do not use ionic technology but are still amazing dryers.

These hotties use super high-pressure air to blast your hair dry in reportedly 50 percent less time than a conventional hair dryer. Why does that matter, you ask? Well, because the Solano hair dryer and Elchim hair dryer use high-pressure air (an air flow of about 40 liters per second!) to dry your hair, not only will it get dry fast, it does not have to use sizzling heat. That means you won’t be frying your hair. And both the Elchim hair dryers and Solano hair dryers are made with excellent components. So, even though the motor is operating with 1800 watts of power running through it, it won’t break. In fact, some of the Elchim hair dryers claim to have a running life of more than 2,000 hours! Solano hair dryers and Elchim hair dryers start at a lower baseline than CHI hair dryers, at around $80, and they are excellent quality dryers.

Elchim Hair Dryers

Can I Get Negative Ions Without Burning a Hole in My Wallet?

The fact is if you are looking at negative ion hair dryers, you are fixing to pay at least $100 for it. (By the way, Elchim and Solano both have ionic models.) But ladies, you know to save money sometimes you have got to spend a little more. An Elchim hair dryer, Solano hair dryer and CHI hair dryer all cost more than your typical drug store brands – but they are going to last a lot longer and save you trips to your hair dresser to retouch the color in your hair when it fades because your locks have been burnt to a crisp. The bottom line is, whether you believe in ionic technology or not, if you dry your hair on a regular basis you should invest in tools that will do it properly. It will save your pennies and your hair in the long run.

Hmmmm, any companies who want to do a hair dryer giveaway? I’d love a tourmaline or negative ion dryer, but hubby would faint if I spent $200 for a hair dryer. He just bought one for $10!
