Saving money….
My husband and I have been trying to figure out ways to save money here and there. It’s hard because we’re “in contract” for so many things like our alarm and our internet, cell phones, etc… We were looking into changing our cable tv to something different like Direct TV in Texas , but it looks like we are in contract with our cable until August! 
It’s ridiculous that just trying to save money could cost of money because of contacts! It looks like Direct Tv could save us some money and I know the quality is good because my parents have Direct TV . I can get all the same great channels, have a dvr, great customer service, etc… for less money that I am paying now. We are also looking into getting rid of our home phone. We never use it The only thing is we’re still in contract with ADT for our alarm for another year. It’s silly to have an alarm with no phone line. Has anyone ever worked with something like that? Has anyone ever found a way out of an ADT contract without paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars?
We have a really great price for car insurance, so we can’t change that. And our cars are maybe worth what we owe on them. Idk if selling them would do any good because they are good cars that work!! I’d like to keep it that way. Our plan is to pay them off and keep them forever. 
What are some other ways to cut some bills and save money??

With Allan’s new job, he is taking a cut in pay, so I need to do a lot of re-evaluating. I get so annoyed with contracts–the worse being cell phones. Our phone/internet company also offers tv service, but I hate all the “hidden” charges, so I feel better staying with what I know.
We’ll just have to cut back on eating out and going out–not that we do it that often. Also I will cut back on visits to Wal-Mart where I will just pick things up that I can do without.

I know it hard to save.. I horrible about it.. but my sis was such a good example to me while her hub was in medical school, and residency, and speciality.. etc.. and 3 kids, just to paint the pic.. anyway, they didn’t have cable..at all.. yup. no dvr, nothing, and they did survive.. and no cell phones, it was crazy, but it was true.. she did without. She put her mind to it, and stuck with it.. no gym, no extra anything, its tough to give up stuff.. and if your in a contract, well then next to impossible.. but when your contract expires you just reevaluate.. do I really need it. My friend has a business that teaches how to save $$$ on groceries..etc.. its amazing.. let me know if you’re interested!!! Good luck.. its not easy!

That’s a great idea to get rid of your land line. We did it years ago and have never regretted it because we have our cell phones.
We don’t get cable at all. We just watch network t.v. There is a lot more on now that those extra channels are available like 11.2, 11.3, etc… We also watch a ton of instant t.v. stuff on Netflix and Hulu so it’s a bit like having cable.
When money is tight, I take a set amount of cash to the grocery store with my prepared list and then I don’t spend more than I intend to.
Half a dryer sheet is all you need.
For birthday/Christmas stuff I always ask for stuff like gift cards to the hair salon I like or gift cards to restaurants. That way I can still experience the things I love, but I don’t have to pay for them.
