I’ve never had a problem with profiling by the police – from small-town to state to feds. The way I see it, if you have nothing to hide or feel guilty about, being asked to produce valid identification is a non-issue and you should recognize and acknowledge that the scrutiny is taking place for your own protection and the protection of your fellow citizens, legal immigrants and whatevers. Some people never seem to get that.

Personally, I’m very grateful for the efforts of diligent, well-trained, observant law enforcement people. If the border agent at the Port Angeles, Washington ferry crossing from Canada in December of 1999 hadn’t thought Ahmed Rassam was sweating too much for the relatively mild weather, then Los Angeles Airport and everybody inside might have gone the way of the World Trade Center Towers.

And don’t forget the “lowly” baggage screener in Orlando who is credited with having prevented the probable 20th 9/11 jet hijacker from getting out of Orlando — simply because he thought it was odd that the traveler became so upset when asked why he didn’t have a return ticket.

People like that are heroes, in my book. Profile away. And my family skeleton closet contains more than a few old-time IRA militants. Make of that what you will.

You know what get me raging? When my people call California et al the “occupied territories” or when they claim that’s “their” land (like your 2nd picture). It’s so embarrassing and so rage inducing at the same time.
That’s too sad about your BIL brother. It’s really not fair but most of the time laws and order can only do so much when it comes to fairness.

The POTUS should really stop talking and do the job those who voted for him expect him to do.

I agree about putting the police officers in a hard position. I asked Sei first thing how he felt, as a cop, about the law. He wasn’t diggin’ the possible work load and the backlash, but as a whole he agrees with the law. I think the ignorant “arguments” people have are what frustrate me the most. It doesn’t help when the president plays into it all by saying things like, “They’re going to judge you by the color of your skin…” and “You’ll be out with your kids for ice cream and they’re gonna ask you for your papers…” Grrr… It just helps fan the flame.
