DAY 30!! I actually did it and stuck to it. Wow. I didn’t realize how much I missed blogging until I actually blogged every day for a month. Cool.
Today, the final day, I am suppose to write about a dream of mine for the future… I have a few. Some are more realistic than others, but if you’re gonna dream, ya might as well dream BIG!! Right??
– I plan to graduate from school in May 2013… the same year Tristan will graduate high school.
I will have a BS in Family Studies and will be a Certified Family Life Educator (CFLE). I would like to work as an advocate for victim’s of drunk driving or domestic violence.
– I would like to travel to Australia within the next 10 years.
– I want to be fluent in ASL.
– I want to live near a beach. (This is one of those things that will probably not happen, but I can dream…)
– I want all my children to find amazing people to marry and be happy and healthy and live their dreams!! (preferably near me…)
– I want my husband and I to own a family business that our kids can work at if they want to. I love how Sei’s uncle own “Kahuku Grill” in Hawaii. That’d be awesome.
– I want to be completely out of debt.
– I want to be 25 pounds lighter.
I am sure I have other dreams, but I am so tired right now that I’m drawing a blank… I will add more as they come to me.
Today’s post is 1) Late- because I started school today and this is my 1st chance to get on the computer 2) about the person who has gotten me thru the most…
I wrote about my best friends just a couple posts ago, so of course they have been awesome supporters in my life and have helped get me thru different rough points in my life. But today I’m gonna talk about the most awesome kids in the world!!!
MINE!!!
My kids rock. They have been there for me when my sister died, through the divorce, thru grumpy moods, thru sad times, thru… whatever. They are so forgiving and loving and make me happy!! I truly have FUN with my kids. They make me laugh and put up with my intentional dorkiness, silly stories and amazingly funny (to me) jokes.
I can’t imagine my life without them and wouldn’t want to. They truly build me up and give me purpose. I am so blessed!!
Day 28 of the 30 day challenge!!! Today’s subject is what’s in my purse. I am very boring when it comes to my purse. I don’t even like purses. But today when I looked in mine this is what I found:
- A pack of Trident
- 3 Kroger receipts
- My wallet with my license, debit card, etc…
- 4 pens and a Cinderella marker
- 1 pink hairband
- 2 Mary Kay lipsticks- Nutmeg and Rich Cocoa
- 1 Mary Kay Sugarberry lip gloss
- My iPod Touch
- Sunglasses
- A coupon card my son was selling as a fundraiser
- A “Days Inn” notepad
- Hand sanitizer
- My keys
- My cell– which is actually usually in my pocket…
- My holster
- My Ruger LC 9 (named “JET” after Jason Terry from the Mavericks)
Very exciting, I know…
What’s in your purse or bag??
I’ve been participating in a “30 days about me” challenge from over at A Daily Dose of Toni. I can’t believe it’s already day 27. I used to blog consistently, daily… But it’s gotten to where I blog maybe once a month. I have loved doing this challenge and learning more about new blogging friends.
Today’s challenge is to write about my worst habit. I have a lot of bad habits I think… The one my husband hates the most is my nail biting!!
I never have nails because I bite them off. And when I bite them I also grind my back teeth– that’s the past Sei can’t stand. haha I bite them when I am stressed, nervous, bored or if they just happen to be getting “long”- which is funny because they are never long. I have had acrylic nails put on several times, but having long nails bugs me. I can’t text.
Another bad habit is eating when I am not hungry. I am an all-day snacker.
I wish I could say I snack on grapes and carrots… Nope. I am a straight-up sugar addict. There are some days that I think, “I never ate lunch or breakfast. Why am I not hungry?” Then I think back on all the crap I had snacked on and I realize why. It’s a horrible habit and I struggle with it daily. I’m workin’ on it…
Probably my worst habit is putting myself down and comparing myself to others- whether it be looks or accomplishments. I look at myself and only see the fat rolls and the stretchmarks and my failures.
I joke about me being “fat” which really I guess I am not “fat” but I am overweight and I weigh more than I ever have in my life. But I say mean comments about myself in front of my kids and that is wrong. I have a 12 year old daughter. I need to stop. I compare my faults and failures to others. I need to remember that everyone has their own challenges, their own faults and insecurities as well.
I’m sure I have plenty of other bad habits, but those 3 are at the top of my list… unfortunately.
When I saw the subject for today I giggled. Anyone who knows me knows why. I am NOT a fashionista in any sense of the word. I am a jeans and tshirt kind of girl. It drives me crazy that my 12 year old daughter would rather wear her brother’s hand-me-down workout shorts instead of the cute, new clothes I bought her. Then I look down at what I’m wearing… My 16 yr old’s workout shorts and a free M.A.D.D. tshirt… Yeah… So…
I looked in my closet. It seems I have a lot of shirts from Aeropostale. They have good sales… JCPenney’s has great clearance… And Old Navy sends me coupons. lol But I really, really, really don’t have a favorite clothing store. I’m all about comfort. I love flip flops if I must wear shoes. I like shorts, tshirts and jeans that fit me right– which are hard to find. That’s about it. My husband used to tell his friends that for my birthday he gave me $20 to spend at Goodwill and I was thrilled. ;D
Today I am suppose to tell about my best friends… I am super lucky to honestly be able to call my husband my best friend. I mean, he IS. He accepts my faults… ALL of them. He spoils me and treats me so well. He’s seen me at my best and my worst. He supports me and loves me unconditionally. He makes me laugh every single day. We have FUN together. And we’ve been thru more in the last 10 years and survived- so I know he’s here to stay.
(haha SUCKA!)
Stacy has been my “BFF” since 7th grade. We’ve raised hell together, had babies together (ours are 3 days apart!) and are still super close today. I never feel judged when I’m with Stacy. I feel like I can be myself and make no apologies. I can also be a total re-re spaz and she loves it. (“re-re” is her word…) My parents weren’t always thrilled with Stacy because we got in so much trouble together. They always said she wasn’t my friend because she let me be stupid- haha. But when my little sister died out of all my “friends” in high school, Stacy and one other girl came to the visitation or whatever it’s called. None of the “friends” my parents would have preferred came. But STACY was there. That always meant so much. I love my Stacy and I’m glad we always make time for our friendship.
Tara, my sister, is also my best friend. She’s the more mature of the two of us.
Even when I was a total loser she was always my advocate and tried to keep me in line. She can always make me feel better about myself and point out the good she sees in me. She’s a great mom and an amazing sister. I also have a great set of parents as well. I joke that I am adopted because I’m pretty different than the rest of my family, but I can see characteristics of each of my parents that I have inherited. They are supportive of me and have helped our family in more ways than I can count. I am blessed.
Today’s post is about where I live. I live in Texas in a town about 30 miles north of Dallas. It’s not a very exciting town by any means, but it is in Texas which makes it about 200x cooler than anywhere else.
There’s 2 universities in my town and a community college as well. There’s 3 high schools, 4 middle schools and a ton of elementary schools. And kindergarten is FULL DAY here. (woot woot!) Our high school has placed 2nd in state football 2 years in a row. And in Texas, Football=Life. Yeah, I don’t get it either…
There’s not a ton to do here. There’s a mall and some movie theaters… Man, this sounds so lame. But again- I live in Texas, therefore it is cool.
It’s not a small town or anything, but not a big city like Dallas. I love that. There’s not a ton of crime either.
Best thing I’ve heard someone say that totally reminded me “Yep- I’m in Texas…” was overheard at the gun range:
“I’ve taken my CHL class (concealed handgun license), but I’m not payin’ the state to carry a gun! That’s like payin’ to go to church.”
I LOVE it. (And yes, I carry a gun.)
I love that winter only lasts a couple of months. I love the heat. My husband and I (and the kids) lived in Utah for 7 years and I did not love the 6-8 month freakin’ long winters. But it is also hot as hell here… and I don’t mind it at all.
Worst thing about Texas: My ex lives here too.
As much as I love Texas, I’d rather live near a beach. But my parents and most of my siblings are here, so… :-/
I’ve posted a few videos of me from Youtube in the last few posts- like the one of my daughter and I signing “I Gotta Feelin’” at our family reunion and my ASL story video. So, I’m going to post just a couple of videos I really like on Youtube. Some it will be obvious why, while others will just prove I am a spaz– if there was any doubt… ENJOY!
My Daughter Dancing to Tik Tok – A MUST SEE!!!
My husband playing Metallica on the piano…
Our family made up a dance…
And this is my new favorite, pointless clip… I laugh every time…
Today for the “30 Days About Me” challenge from A Daily Dose of Toni is to list a few of my favorite websites... Seeing how I am quite boring and don’t really “surf the net” all that much, my list will be short.
- Swampbrat- Duh.
- Google- because I can pretty much find any answer I need to for anything…
- Facebook- because it makes me feel like I have friends.
- Craigslist- Because it has helped furnish my house on a tight budget.
- Youtube – I love how I can talk about a movie clip and then actually FIND that clip to show whoever I was talking to! Yay!
- Officer Down Memorial Page – I think saying it’s a “favorite” would be weird since it lists fallen officers, but I visit it on a regular basis.
- Internet Movie Database- Because I’m weird and like to look up movie stuff.
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. What’s your favorite website?
These are 2 favorite recipes in our house.
- Chicken legs or buffalo style wings
- 6 heaping spoonfuls of Apricot/pineapple jam
- 1 small jar of Russian dressing (Catalina works ok too!)
- 1 packet of dry onion soup mix
Mix all the ingredients together except for the chicken. Place chicken on jellyroll pan. Spoon mix over each piece of chicken. Bake at 375 for about an hour or until the chicken is cooked through. Serve with rice.
Sweet & Savory Meatballs– We are having this tonight!!
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1/4 cup bread crumbs
- Small amount of chopped onion
- 1 egg
- 1 can golden mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup canned tomatoes, drained
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
- 2 tbsp. vinegar
- 2 tsp. soy sauce
- dash of pepper
Mix beef, bread crumbs, onion and egg together. Shape in 12 meatballs. In skillet, brown meatballs in oil. Add remaining ingredients together; pour over meatballs. Cook over low heat for 20 minutes or until done; stir. Serve with rice or noodles.
