We all know fiber is an important part of a healthy diet, but I know personally I don’t get enough because it’s not something I think about!! The 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans say you should get 25-38 grams of fiber every day. Thankfully, Fiber One can help me out, by making fiber taste good!! Fiber One has introduced five new cereals, offering at least 30 percent of your Daily Value for fiber in each serving! I had the opportunity to try each one:
Fiber One Original cereal was not my favorite. It tasted “fibery” to me, but it did keep me full for a long time!!
Fiber One Honey Clusters cereal was pretty good. I liked the clusters.
Fiber One Raisin Bran Clusters was my favorite!! I liked the clusters and the raisins. It wasn’t too sweet and I liked the flakes better than other raisin bran-type cereals.
Fiber One Caramel Delight cereal was not really a fave to me, but my 7 year old loved it. I think that’s awesome that a kid liked a fiber cereal… I like caramel, but I guess I don’t on my cereal…
Fiber One Shredded Wheat cereal was really good! It was sweet and tasty and I really liked the sizes of the shredded wheat. You can keep up with Fiber One through their website or Facebook. You can also get a coupon for $.75 off Fiber One cereals or $1.75 off Fiber One products.

General Mills provided me with the free product, information, and gift pack through MyBlogSpark.
My family is a huge cereal eating family. It’s not just for breakfast at our house. We eat it for snacks- dry or with milk. We eat it for dinner, lunch, whenever. I was happy to learn that ready-to-eat cereal eaters consume less fat, less cholesterol and more fiber than non-cereal eaters. Cereals also deliver important vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients, making cereal a top source of key nutrients in children´s diets. This is all great information because now instead feeling like a lazy mom for feeding my kids cereal for every meal, I can say it’s good for their health! haha
Other cereal benefits:
- Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children´s diets.
- Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child´s diet today.
- More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.
A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office. Clearly I needed to eat cereal more often as a child.
If you visit General Mills site you can learn lots about the benefits of cereal! And right now if you visit here you will find a $1 off coupon for one of four General Mills cereals. Enjoy!!
