Halloween is fast approaching. Once the school year starts time just flies by! Most year’s Halloween sneaks up on me, but this year I am better prepared. Taj, my almost 8 yr old, loves to dress up year round, so most of his costumes are pretty worn out. I started my search online for boys costumes. Almost immediately I found the website CostumeDiscounters.com. Taj is always and forever into super heroes. So I searched through their huge selection of superhero Halloween costumes . There were so many to choose from!! Spiderman, Iron Man, Mr. Incredible!! Taj’s newest favorites super hero is Captain America. We looked through the child Captain America costumes and found the perfect one! The price was right, the look is perfect and Taj couldn’t have been more excited when it showed up FAST on our doorstep. They offer same-day shipping if ordered by 3pm EST.
We’ve had Captain America running around our house for 2 days now!
The quality of the costume is great. It’s sturdy and well-sewn– it has to be to withstand the abuse my 8 year old will put it through! One thing- I am glad I ordered the large (10/12) even though Taj is younger. I checked the size chart on their website and that helped me make my decision. That was a helpful tool.
Because of the impressive quality, fast shipping, inventory and easy to navigate website, I will be ordering Liv’s costume from here as well. I am just waiting for her to make up her mind– Smurfette? Tinkerbell? Or a princess… again? They have costumes for adults or bigger kids as well, so Isabel, my 12 yr old, is excited to find her perfect costume too!
I never posted anything from Halloween…
My 3 oldest were at the ex’s house so I don’t have pics of them. All 3 of them just wore white masks with black hoodies. They are too “mature” to really dress up, but they still want the candy… haha
Since Halloween was on Sunday, the kids went to a church “Trunk or Treat” on Saturday, as well as a trick or treat on Friday at some local businesses. They loaded up pretty well! I’m not one of those moms that spends all year sewing my kid’s costume or spends a lot of money on a costume. My kids have so many dress up outfits and my mom has a ton of stuff, so my kiddos are free to change costumes whenever they want. Taj went from Superman, to a pirate, to a ghost… Livie was a pirate and a dragon fly. I have a few pics. If I ever get the ones Sei took off his phone I’ll load those up as well. They had a ton of fun!!

Me as the crazy native or something... and Sei as a "Blue Man"
I like paranormal ghost stuff. I mean, I don’t do Ouiji boards or seances or anything like that. I don’t like evil things, etc… but I have always been interested in “ghost stories.” I can remember checking out “Texas Ghost Stories” from my elementary school library. I still find ghost stories cool. I watch several shows on TV such as “Ghost Hunters” and “Paranormal State” and I am in awe of all the equipment they use. It’s pretty cool stuff!
Anyway… in honor of Halloween I was going to share my recent experiences. I’m probably exaggerating by calling them “experiences” but if you put them all together and tell it to spooky music then they could be kinda freaky…
1) I was watching “Paranormal State” on TV in my bedroom around 11pm. All of the sudden Taj’s remote control car flew off the small file cabinet in my room and landed in the middle of the floor. I wasn’t scared, I was more like, “What the heck?” Sei didn’t even move at all– he was sleeping. I picked the car back up, made sure it was turned OFF (it was) and sat it facing a different direction on the file cabinet with the remote blocking it from falling (or flying) off again. Fast forward 20 minutes– the car flew off AGAIN the opposite direction with so much force this time Sei even woke up. Yeah… weird.
2) A few days later I’m sitting on the couch checking my emails. No one else is home. There’s no sudden movement or anything. BAM! The picture hanging on the wall behind me falls off- HARD. Weird. It hasn’t fallen off in the past. Ever. I hung it back up and 20 minutes later it tell again. Weird.
3) Saturday Sei was sleeping in the bedroom because he worked that Friday nite. Indy, our dog, knows she is not allowed in our bedroom–especially if Sei is home. Well, something was stressing her out. She paced in front of our bedroom door, whined a little and finally started scratching at the door. I was in the kitchen and saw her acting all strange. I finally thought, “Crap, Sei is probably choking or something and Indy wants to save him!” So, I opened the bedroom door. She went running in. Sei was still breathing and slightly snoring… Indy sniffed around the room, paced back and forth by the bed and finally went out after I told her, “Out Indy.” That was it. Weird.
So… what do you think? It’s a brand new house, so there’s no old ghost haunting it. I was thinking it was probably like on Poltergeist… “You moved the cemetary, but you left the bodies!! You left the bodies and you only moved the headstones!!!”
When I was younger I used to see “Static People“- or atleast that’s what I called them. I would see people walking or standing in my room. You know how there’s like dust and static- well, I thought the people were made out of that. Like, they weren’t real. But now, 25 or more years later, I wonder- What *was* I seeing?
I remember one nite, I was probably 4, I saw a really tall, Abraham Lincoln-ish looking man and a short, fat hamburger-eating-guy-from-Popeye looking man standing in my doorway. My parent’s room was right next door to mine, but those “static people” scared me so bad that I can vividly remember running to my window, screaming, crying, trying to open the window to get out of my room. My mom came running into the bedroom asking me what happened and why I was at the window. The men in the doorway were gone.
WTH?! What did I see? Was I dreaming? Was it my imagination? Or was it something more? (*insert “Twilight Zone” music here) I’ve written about Tajy’s experiences- which btw have ended since moving to Texas and getting older. I blamed it on Sei’s side of the family. Maybe I was wrong…
And of course for Halloween I have to post some “Ghost Hunters.” I think I posted these 2 clips before, but THEY ARE A TRIP.
- I won the John Lennon (nicest blogger) Award in the Dottie Awards hosted by Momdot.com. THANK YOU FOR YOUR VOTES!!
- This week has been Halloween week at our house. We’ve made crafts, carved and painted Jack O’ Lanterns and had our annual Halloween Dinner. We ate Monster Claws, Mummy dogs, Bloodshot eyeballs and Witches hats (not pictured.) We drank blood, of course.

- It’s been a stressful time because we’re back not “in court” but back hiring lawyers & fighting back and forth because we were served a while ago- this time by my ex. I realize it could be a lot worse, but I’m kinda startin’ to wonder about that whole, “God won’t give you more than you can handle” thing…
- I’m now an Independent Beauty Consultant for Mary Kay. So, now between Advocare and MK I can beautify you from the inside out!
I can help with dark circles under the eyes or flab around your waist!
I’m excited. My sister has been with MK for about 4 years and I’ve used the products forever. LOVE them! I just now decided I should join her team because… well, why not?? Now, who wants to host a party for me??
It can even be an email party- and the hostess gifts are great! Email me!! swampbrat@gmail.com - Taj impresses me. He was invited to a birthday party for Saturday. All I told him was he had a church activity at the same time… and left it at that. On Thursday I said something about Saturday and he said, “That’s when Caleb’s party is. But I’m going to the activity because it’s at the church and that’s more important.” Who’s kid is this?? So cool.
- Livie is being Cinderella for Halloween and Taj is being an army guy. Liv is waaaaaaaaaaaaay into princesses.
The 3 older kids will be at the exes. I know the boys are wearing black hoodies with white masks. Idk what Izzy is doing.
She told me she was being an evil Tinkerbell, but that was the last I heard. I hate not being involved.
- Basketball season for the kiddos starts soon. Yessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss.
- Did you hear about the man sentenced to over 4000 years in prison for $exually assaulting 3 girls? Yeah, we don’t mess around in Texas yo!
So, what’s been going on in y’alls lives since I have been a sucky blog reader??
1982 was the year. I was 6 years old. Cute, blonde hair, blue eyes, sweet as can be… It was Halloween. I was so excited to be a sunflower that year. My costume was gonna be da bomb.com. Back then we lived out in the boondocks, so we usually went trick or treating at the mall. It was safe, indoors, and always, always busy. I had my jack-o-lantern bucket and was pumped.
It wasn’t until I was in the center of the mall that I realized….
…
…
….
I had a freakin’ tutu on my head!!
I was mortified and positive everyone was staring at me. I think I spent more time in the mall bathroom than trick or treating that nite…
Hula girl- swampbaby, Smurfette- Nicole, Sunflower- me
